Southshore Bay is a new home community coming soon to Calabash, NC.

The new home community of Southshore Bay in Calabash is just 2 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and is conveniently located directly off of Highway 179 – on the opposite side of Highway 179 from the Oyster Bay Golf Course.

Oyster Bay is part of the Legends Golf Resort - which offers five of the best championship golf courses available in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding states of South Carolina and North Carolina.  Legends Golf Resort has three courses just off Highway 501 in Myrtle Beach (Heathland, Moorland, and Parkland).  The Heritage Club is on the southern end in Pawleys Island, SC and the Oyster Bay Golf Links is on the northern end of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand in Sunset Beach, NC.

A master plan for a residential cluster on this Southshore Bay parcel was previously approved for conditional zoning on June 28, 2023, for 57 homes sites.  A more current approved plan for Southshore Bay consists of 49 single-family homes on 12.37 acres with around five acres of open space. 

D. R. Horton now has plans to build 48 single family homes on this site in the new home community of Southshore Bay in Calabash, NC.

D. R. Horton will be offering their Express Series Homes in the new home community of Southshore Bay in Calabash.

As of July of 2025, D. R. Horton has not yet announced pricing or timing of the new homes in Southshore Bay.
