The Heron Point Golf Club off of Blue Heron Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, first opened in 1988.  Willard Byrd was the architect who designed this true links style golf course reminiscent of many of the old Scottish courses.  The Heron Point Golf Club closed at the end of 2014 as the club had been struggling financially and was in desperate need of some capital improvements.

Nearly a decade later, the last pieces of land on this once 155-acre Heron Point Golf Club property off of SC 707 have been sold off for development.  In August of 2023, D. R. Horton purchase over 80 acres on the last part of which used to be the Heron Point Golf Club.

The 80 acres tract of land that D. R. Horton purchased is located close to the Highway 31 and Highway 707 interchange right off of Blue Heron Boulevard.  The property is adjacent to the Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club and Cypress River Plantation.

Heron Pointe (not to be confused with Pete Dye’s Heron Point in Hilton Head Island) is the community name.

In November 2024, D. R. Horton just announced pricing of the new homes in Heron Pointe to be starting at $362,490. 

D. R. Horton is planning on offering seven different floor plans in Heron Pointe:

Belfort – 4 bed, 2.5 bath, 2 car garage, 2 story, 2,271 square feet – starting from $389,000

Darby – 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage, 1 story, 1,883 square feet – starting from $362,000

Eaton – 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage, 1 story, 1,733 square feet – starting from $369,000

Forrester – 4 bed, 3 bath, 2 car garage, 2 story, 2,665 square feet – starting from $412,000

Harbor Oak – 4 bed, 3 bath, 2 car garage, 2 story, 3,129 square feet – starting from $434,000

Litchfield – 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage, 1 story, 2,028 square feet – starting from $380,000

Tillman – 5 bed, 3.5 bath, 2 car garage, 2 story, 3,216 square feet – starting from $425,000

Land development is ongoing, and the construction of spec homes is underway.
