Edgefield is a new home community in the Loris area near the North Carolina and South Carolina border.  Locals may know this area as Goretown.

The new home community of Edgefield in Loris is just 1 mile off of Highway 9 and near the intersection of Camp Swamp Road and Old Buck Creek Road where Highway 144 terminates.

The Forest at Black Bear by D. R. Horton and Andalusia by Starlight Homes are a couple of new communities in the area close to where the new home community of Edgefield in Loris is being developed.

A few years ago, back in 2022, Horry County approved development of 235 single family units on an approximate 86 acre of land in a master planned community in this location that was named the “Graham Tract” - as the Graham family owned this property at the time.  B & M Properties of the Carolinas LLC subsequently bought the land from the Graham family in early 2023.

Great Southern Homes is the builder in Edgefield.  Great Southern Homes is also planning another new home community - Myrtle West - close to Edgefield.

Preliminary plans from Great Southern Homes are showing 47 single-family homes in an initial phase of Edgefield that runs along Camp Swamp Road.

Great Southern Homes will be offering both single and two-story single-family homes in Edgefield with the base square footage of the model homes ranging from 1,297 square feet of living space to 2,295 square feet of living space.

As of June of 2025, Great Southern Homes has not yet announced timing or pricing of the new single-family homes in Edgefield.  Expectations are that presales in Edgefield will begin in late spring/early summer of 2025.
