Meritage Homes is planning another new home community in the Socastee area.

On February 6, 2025, the Horry County Planning Commission will be reviewing a request to rezone an approximate 47 acre portion to primarily Multi-Residential (MRD 3).

This piece of property is conveniently located close to Highway 544 and not too far from the interchange with Highway 31. The property is adjacent to Leisure Lane (not necessarily the name of this new homes community)

Preliminary plans are showing approximately 145 single family units.
Meritage Homes was founded in 1985 as Monterey Homes in Scottsdale, Arizona and changed its name in 1997 to Meritage Homes. Meritage Homes divides its operations into four separate regions: West, Central, East and South. Meritage Homes develops homes for entry level and first move-up buyers, including "net zero" energy efficient homes that provide as much power as they consume. In 2023, Meritage Homes was ranked as the 5th largest builder in the United States based upon revenue.
