Myrtle Beach has a rather mature public transportation system that is safe and affordable.  Known as “Coast RTA”, their Fixed Route bus system has relatively broad coverage, consisting of 10 regularly scheduled routes servicing Horry and Georgetown Counties. The fixed routes include Andrews, Bucksport, Conway, Garden City, Georgetown, Loris, Murrells Inlet, Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Island and Surfside Beach.  The Fixed Route service operates seven days a week, 362 days per year. Coast RTA observes the holidays of New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas so its employees may spend time with their families.

Many area attractions from shopping and restaurants to amusements and accommodations are serviced by Coast RTA Fixed Routes. Locals have come to rely on Coast RTA to provide transportation to area employers and services, including all major medical centers and hospitals.

Coast RTA buses are climate-controlled and regularly maintained to ensure an enjoyable and safe riding experience for all passengers. All buses are wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant.  Discounted fares and passes are available for students, senior citizens (age 55 and older), Medicaid card holders, and customers with disabilities. Service animals are permitted to accompany individuals with disabilities on all vehicles.

Coast RTA also offers a FREE seasonal Entertainment Shuttle - the best way to explore all the attractions that Myrtle Beach offers. The Entertainment Shuttle is designed to allow visitors to stay parked at their resorts/hotels and ride to downtown locations and other Myrtle Beach area attractions. Points of interests along the Entertainment Shuttle route include: Broadway at the Beach, Broadway Grand Prix, Family Kingdom Amusement Park, Helicopter Adventures, Hollywood Wax Museum, Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Myrtle Waves, Plyler Park, the Ripken Experience, Rockin’ Jump Trampoline Park, the SkyWheel, the Zipline at the Pavilion as well as other select dining, shopping and hotels.  The Entertainment Shuttle runs daily throughout the summer months. The Shuttle runs every 30-35 minutes from 9 AM until 12 AM (Midnight) daily.  The Shuttle is FREE to use along the established route, however to access other destinations may be available by riding one of Coast RTA’s fixed routes for an additional fare.
